NanoBio-Europe conference

The 7th NanoBio-Europe conference (www.nanobio-europe.com) will take place in Cork (Ireland) in June 21-23rd, 2011.

NanoBio-Europe is recognized as a lead International Congress and Exhibition on Nanobiotechnology in Europe, and NanoBio-Europe 2011 promises to be a great opportunity to hear about the latest developments in nanobiotechnology including nanomedicine, as well as providing an ideal platform for interdisciplinary communication and new collaborations among participants from science and industry.

Nanotechnology – Research Excellence & Commercial Opportunities

NanoNet Ireland is pleased to announce the second Nanoweek Conference, to be held from the 31st January – 1st February 2011 in Carton House, Co. Kildare.

This event will bring together international speakers with direct experience in building technology companies from world class nanoscience research and representatives from Irish industry, research and investment communities to share experiences in the commercialisation and application of nanotechnology and to highlight the nanoscience research and expertise currently available in Irish research institutes. Official Opening of Nanoweek and launch of Nanoscience DVD

Nanoweek 2011 will open with the launch of a DVD on nanoscience produced by CRANN for secondary school students. The Nano in My Life DVD which aims to excite and engage students on the basics of nanoscience and its applications in their everyday lives was piloted in six schools during Science Week 2010. Over 100 Transition Year students and teachers who participated in the pilot will attend the launch. As well as raising awareness of the need to attract students to study nanoscience, the official opening of Nanoweek will highlight the contribution that nanoscience is making to the Irish economy through ongoing industrial engagements with research centres like CRANN.

Event details

The official opening of Nanoweek 2011 and DVD launch will take place in the PACCAR Theatre, Science Gallery on Monday 31st January at 10.45am. A number of prizes will be presented for a poster and video competition held amongst pilot schools.

Nanoweek for Schools

Inspire National Nano Week Outreach

During Nanoweek all INSPIRE institutional partners will be visiting schools in Cork, Limerick, Galway, Kildare and Dublin. This programme will introduce nanoscience to secondary school students and will include lesson plans/worksheets linked to the current school curriculum.

An initiative of NanoNet Ireland Network, a weeklong programme of activities to promote Nanoscience and Nanotechnology in Ireland. Nanoweek brings together a wide range of events to raise public awareness of the potential of nanoscience to improve our quality of life.
